When I started painting on recycled cardboard, I realized that each piece carries its own story – just like we humans do. What may seem meaningless can be transformed into something new and valuable through creativity.
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the political slogans on the walls of my surroundings – they were loud, raw, and full of meaning. Words and images on walls told stories of resistance, hope, and identity.
In my work, art, sustainability, and political awareness merge. I paint on used shopping bags made from recycled paper and use coffee, diluted with water, as my primary medium. This approach follows the principle of “Trash to Art” – creating art with significance from seemingly worthless materials. Most of my subjects are inspired by politically engaged figures: artists, politicians, and dissidents such as Bob Marley, Che Guevara, Albert Einstein, and Nazım Hikmet. These figures represent resistance, vision, and cultural change. I express their stories and messages on unconventional canvases – shopping bags that already carry their own stories.
